Spit more wisdom than Morgan Freeman

Okay, can’t be sure if I really do but the title is cool haha. So the reason I have yet to blog is because I was trying to go in another direction with it. Rather than bore you with my life and random junk happening, decided to go for the traditional blogging perspective. After I could not come up with another topic, came to the realization that THAT is not for me. I like random-ocity. Yeah not a word. I know. Instead, being in a different country meeting new people have realized something else. Jackie is a random person with random stories. So true. With that I am just going to recount new and old ones because they seem to entertain every person I meet and tell one to. Hopefully I can find pictures of some of the unbelievable ones, but -slick rick voice- here we gooooo..

1996. DJ Kool released the song Let Me Clear My Throat. It did not catch onto mainstream until ‘97 for the most part. Everyone didn’t know the song or the way it worked. So one day I was in Philly visiting family. You know the second aunt’s cousin’s wife sort of randomness. It is a humid August night and we were posed on the stoop like a scene from “Do The Right Thing”. Being that Kool recorded the song around the way at a local nightclub, the song got play from boomboxes and car stereos in the area. Hometown love they call it.

Dude comes by looking like Kid from Kid N Play. Flattop so high and flat, a couple of planes could have landed on it. No joke. Next comes my friend’s older brother, I believe his name was Stephen. Stephen comes by blaring this song. Next Kid comes over to give Stephen dap, asking him about the tape. A sing-a-long initiates and it’s about 10 people deep. More people join in and by the 2nd minute in, its doubled maybe tripled. Everyone knew the song by heart, and it went a little longer than run time in reality.

The part comes in when “it goes a little something like this” -cough cough cough-. Kid is leading the song and begins coughing in different directions. The third cough comes and he coughs on this Mr. T meets Big Worm fellow. All hell breaks loose. A melee ensues meanwhile Stephen (this sucker) is trying to save his Sony Stereo from any harm, dodging and dipping from headbutts, fists and feet. Being only 6 at the time myself, there was nothing I could do but stare. Head cocked to the side trying to understand how this chain reaction started, I stood in wonderment. It lasted for a good eight minutes and stopped once this crazy old bat, Aunt Lou Ann (not my aunt, that’s what the neighborhood called her) and her husband began dumping buckets of water and hosing everyone down. The once battered and bloody faces, arms and legs were free of any red on them but within a  minute everyone started screaming. Turns out the water was stinging them because the bucket was old mop water with chemicals. OUCH!
