39 years ago today, the world was blessed with the birth of the late Tupac Shakur – rapper, actor, record producer, activist and poet. One of the best to ever do it.

I have to admit that I am not all that stoked for Sex & the City like I was for the first one. I feel that the first one left the show where it needed to be. Carrie’s with Big, Miranda well.. I’m unsure if she went BACK to Brooklyn or they settled Downtown(?) but her marriage worked out, Charlotte finally got the little Rose that she always wanted and Samantha found love in Smith Jarrod on the West Coast.

BUT! This second time around there is going to be an official “Sex & the City 2″ book documenting behind the scenes and the best part… the outfits!! Yay! It will be giving a break down of all of the fashion in the film, documenting everything Carrie wears alongside the brands of each garment and accessory. As far as I know this book release will be US only because the publishing company is located in Philly, but either way I am going to get a copy mailed to my house in Boston. The “Sex & the City 2″ book will be releasing May 18, $19.95 for paperback and $29.95 for hardcover. The movie, Sex & the City 2 releases May 27th.

Something about the Vera Wang dress above fascinates me. It is my favorite look that graced the red carpet last night. Following in ranking are Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan, Gabourey Sidibe in Marchesa, Kristen Stewart in Monique Lhuillier and Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta. Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham is worth an honorable mention or rather Cyrus’ stylist should recieve praise.

Next are the penguins! Hehe. That is my name for the guys because it is known that the Academy Awards are a black and white tux plus bowtie affair. No funny stuff here. That is what the Grammys or even the VMAs are for. Anywho, here are the list of my top four with Zac Efron (unsure who he wore but one of the few who opted for a tie), Lenny Kravitz (unsure of what he wore too), Taylor Lautner in Dolce & Gabbana and Jake Gyllenhall in Burberry.

Lastly, my favorite couple of the night was Sam Worthington from Avatar with girlfriend, Natalie Mark. This is solely because of her GOWN! Not really her look… but the gown is amazing if you look at the bead work closely.

Bold colors and feathered hair. Pure wonderfulness!! Oscar de la Renta went all out with his design aesthetic and every detail possible was covered from embroidery to trim to hems and prints. It was gorgeous and reminded me of what you could have found in the wardrobe for Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in Scarface. You know as the fiesty, bitchy and overly defense Elvira that wedded Tony Montana, but dressed with the fabulousity of those women parading Fifth Avenue in the 80s. I am also very excited that he opted for some color in his collection as opposed to the other designers we have seen so far in New York Fashion Week that decided to stay in the earth tone and neutrals range. On February 18th, 2010 from 6p – 9p the world will get to preview and purchase the “Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds” at The Upper Playground Art Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles. All proceeds from this program will be donated to The American Red Cross to help the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. Each print will be numbered and signed by Quentin Tarantino.
