This is an update regarding my other websites and any further updates on this one regarding the resources and tutorials.

Sooo… there is a reason why Windows always loses. Like last night. My laptop decided to just NOT load Windows Vista at all and wanted me to reinstall the entire platform myself from a CD which I do not have. Well that or contact HP. But hey! There is this really funny thing to it – HP does not have any number listed anywhere on this laptop on any of the stickers, serials, nothing. And with no internet access because Windows would not even load to get this “magical HP contact number”, I had to reboot my laptop to its original factory settings and lose everything. Awesome. And with final submissions of work for my college in London this very week?! Yeah. It happened.

This means an all nighter for me to not only do corrections on one 15 page paper like I had written on the hard copy to merely correct in Microsoft Word, but I get the pleasure of retyping the entire thing including bibliography with some full website URLs and also having to find new pictures to replace those that I personally took and left on this laptop.

This means… everything is backed up now. I have a copy of my Photoshop so I can still design. However, my hosting site is going to be backed up because I can not link a new bank account to it as soon as I had hoped since this wonderful rebooting led to the loss of McAfee security so all my info is now more vulnerable. Once home in Boston, the week of June 20th… this laptop is going to shop. Heavily considering buying a Macbook Pro to replace it. Seriously, HP is shifty to me now after my laptop started acting as wack as funny money once the warranty on it expired in January. And my portfolio, luckily there is a back up of it on this website and some other online college submissions from what I found to be my personal best. Plus, I need to shoot and add a crazy mess of new work before I pack it all in suitcases for home. Now, the tutorial thing I am still going to do as soon as I reinstall my Photoshop this weekend and re-download the screen recording software.

My goal is to have all of this done by my birthday, JUNE 22ND – MissJanssen.com and CheckTheMentality.com first/second, then the hosting website Oh-Word. Fun times.

So I instantly got hit with inspiration looking through the scans I have up in the resources section. Scrapped all the other ideas and went with this one. This layout really helped me take my mind off of the fashion show I had today so I worked on it last night when I should have been sleeping and as soon as I got back from the show. Anyways, Sessilee is a lovely Dominican model that I remember was featured in Latina magazine last year. I decided to Google her and her work is amazing, so it naturally came to me. This layout is kind of wild though and reminds me of the graphic designing I used to do before, very eclectic. Anyways, I am testing out screen recording software so that the tutorial section gets some much needed updates. Please be patient and write in the CBox or email me about any ideas as to what I should update or do more of. Grazie!

School comes first so for the last two-ish weeks I have been trying to wrap up some garments I made for this fashion show for school and a prom dress I was making for a friend. Now I don’t have to finish the prom dress by a certain date anymore because she isn’t going.. I am going to finish it though. Tuesday is the fashion show and I’ll be taking pics of my model in the garment. 50/50 if I want to see her model it down the runway. I’m so nervous about it that I would rather wait for an hour while the show goes on than sit front row at it. Have until Tuesday to decide that.

Besides that, I am trying to come up with new concepts for a layout. This was one idea out of like five. It wouldn’t be just a picture though. Lots of things together, can’t really explain it. Still have assignments to hand in so my full attention isn’t going to be on this site for another week at least. Sometime in the next 2 weeks you will see the final layout concept I decide to go with.

So I kind of went on vacationnn? Left the world for three weeks basically. Even when I left London for Boston, very little people knew I was in town for three days then going to Guatemala for Semana Santa. Holy Week was great and I will get back to posting tomorrow or Saturday. Below is a picture summary of my trip.

This piece excites me soooo much!! I can’t efficiently describe it with words. Basically, pieces like these challenge me to think more freely and not restrain myself to one medium. I have not done any pieces lately because well… fashion school IS fashion school. Everything I do there revolves around my pattern cutting, digital imaging, fashion illustration and textile classes. It all reverts back to me continuing with studying fashion design next year but with my spring break (which is ONE MONTH LONG!!) coming up I am going to try to attempt some pieces. Those primary skills in painting and drawing always need to be kept fine tuned when in art school, but I want to continue with doing so even after I am done with college.

I am trying to get everything on the site situated! YES, I went through with my conversion to WordPress because I couldn’t take it anymore. CuteNews was killing me softly. There are still new comments being posted daily on old posts that have been taken down with the link taken down and all. Grr, that was a good run but WP is much easier and less complicated in my opinion since I tried using it three months back. Please just give it some time while I convert everything into WordPress… mmkay? Get it? Got it? Good.
